The energy at the official Tang Sou Dao Grays headquarters was electric this past weekend as four dedicated students from our Rainham club stepped onto the mats. Testing for a new belt requires immense focus, and our students rose to the occasion beautifully, showcasing the discipline we cultivate every week at the Brenda Blakemore Community Centre.
The Results
Stepping Up to Yellow Belt
We are thrilled to announce that Ana and Anastasia successfully passed their grading to achieve their Yellow Belts! Moving past the white belt stage is a major milestone. Both students demonstrated excellent concentration, clean stances, and a solid understanding of foundational blocks and strikes.
Breaking into the Intermediate Ranks
Ellis and Isaac faced an intense examination to earn their Orange Stripes—proudly marking the very first intermediate grade in the Tang Sou Dao syllabus. Reaching this level requires a serious step up in technical ability. Both delivered exceptional performances, executing sharp traditional forms, demonstrating superb distance and control during tooi ta (two-man partner sparring), and showing outstanding power during the impact testing phase.

A Tremendously Proud Instructor
Our head instructor, Ms. Kelly Wise, is incredibly proud of the hard work and perseverance Ana, Anastasia, Ellis, and Isaac bring to every single training session. Watching them perform with such confidence and skill was a deeply rewarding moment. Please join us in giving all four a massive congratulations the next time you see them at the hall!
